Ingredient Profile & Common Uses
Qiang Huo is associated with the medicinal rhizome and root of Notopterygium incisum, a botanical currently treated taxonomically as Hansenia weberbaueriana. The extract differs from simply milled botanical powder because extraction concentrates soluble and extractable constituents into a more concentrated ingredient format while retaining a multicomponent botanical profile.
Ratio extracts are the main commercial format, with 10:1 as the primary grade and 20:1 as a secondary option. The ratio describes the relationship between botanical input and finished extract; it is not an assay for notopterol, total coumarins, or another individual constituent. Buyers should therefore evaluate extract ratio, botanical identity, and analytical profile as separate specification elements.
The powdered extract is used in concentrated botanical systems, traditional herbal formulations, and dry-dose product development. Its aromatic and relatively lipophilic constituent profile can influence color, odor, taste, wetting, and dispersion. Powder flow and blend uniformity are also relevant during formulation and scale-up, particularly in multi-ingredient botanical products.
