Ingredient Profile & Common Uses
Resveratrol belongs to the stilbenoid family of polyphenolic compounds and occurs naturally in several plant species. The commercial 99% material represents the trans, or (E), geometric isomer and has the molecular formula C14H12O3 with a molecular weight of 228.24 g/mol. At this concentration, it is more accurately treated as a purified phytochemical than as a conventional ratio extract.
The concentrated grade is intended for formulations that require a defined amount of the target compound without the larger proportion of botanical solids associated with lower-assay extracts. Commercial evaluation therefore focuses on compound concentration and isomer identity rather than extract ratio. This grade architecture is particularly relevant for buyers comparing purified ingredients with botanical resveratrol preparations of substantially lower active content.
In formulation, the material is used across concentrated supplement systems, nutritional premixes, and specialized delivery formats. Poor water solubility can limit straightforward incorporation into aqueous systems, while light exposure can alter the trans/cis balance. Dry formulations are generally easier to develop, whereas liquids and dispersed systems require closer attention to wetting, precipitation, dispersion, and protection from light.
