Ingredient Profile & Common Uses
Naringin belongs to the flavanone glycoside class and contains the flavanone structure naringenin linked to neohesperidose. This distinguishes the ingredient from its corresponding aglycone and from conventional grapefruit or pomelo extracts, which contain multiple naturally occurring compounds rather than one purified target constituent.
The 98% grade is defined by the concentration of naringin itself. Compound-specific HPLC analysis makes this format suitable for formulations requiring tighter control over ingredient identity and inclusion level. It should therefore be distinguished from specifications expressed as total flavonoids, where multiple compounds contribute to one group-level assay result.
Naringin has a pronounced bitter taste and limited aqueous solubility, two properties that strongly affect sensory design and delivery-system selection. Dry-dose formulations are generally easier to develop, while liquid systems require additional evaluation of dissolution, concentration, and physical stability.
